A plastic pitcher that “filters microplastics” is a half-swap. The cartridge may catch particles. The water then sits in plastic. Buy a stainless tank so the water you store sits in steel. Full ranking: plastic-free water filters.
Reality check: Cartridges are almost always plastic shells around carbon or ceramic. That is true of gravity cans and of reverse osmosis. The honest goal is filtered water stored in stainless or glass, not in a Brita tank. Skip a new Berkey black-element kit while the EPA stop-sale is in force.
